Purchase and sale rules
These Rules (hereinafter - the Rules) establish the rules for using the online bookstore www.knygynas.vu.lt and www.bookshop.vu.lt (hereinafter - the Online Store) and the procedure and conditions of purchase therein.
The online store belongs to Vilnius University (hereinafter - VU Press or We).
Use of online store
By browsing the Online Store and otherwise using it, you agree to these and other published VU Press Online Store Terms, Conditions and Policies.
If you do not agree with all the Terms, Conditions and Policies of the VU Press Online Store or do not have the right to enter into agreements with the VU Press Online Store, you may not use this Online Store and the services provided by the VU Press Online Store.
VU Press has the right to change these Rules at any time. Each change takes effect from the moment it is published in the Online Store. By purchasing in the Online Store and otherwise using the services offered therein, you confirm that you have read the current version of these Rules and the conditions of use of the Online Store set forth therein, and agree with them.
Links to Other Websites and Third Party Services
This Online Store contains links to other websites that are not controlled or managed by VU Press. VU Press is not responsible for the content of other websites.
VU Press uses the services of third parties for the collection of payments and delivery of goods, the provision of which is not controlled by VU Press. These parties follow their own terms and conditions when providing services. VU Press is not responsible for any damage caused to you by third parties, the displayed content and the quality of services. Any claims, complaints, questions, observations or allegations concerning the services, acts or omissions of third parties must be addressed directly to those third parties.
Availability of services
Despite our efforts to keep the Online Store available 24 hours a day, We cannot be held responsible if the Online Store is unavailable at any time of the day for any reason or jurisdiction.

The procedure and conditions for the processing of personal data and the storage of cookies in the Online Store are determined by the Online Store Privacy Policy.

Therefore, VU Press shall not be liable for any damages and losses of any kind and amount incurred by you or third parties due to inaccurate, irrelevant or incorrect information provided in the Online Store. VU Press reserves the right to change the description of any product at any time.
Because different monitors display images differently, We cannot guarantee that the actual appearance of the goods is as displayed in the Online Store. Therefore, we cannot be held responsible for any discrepancies of this nature. VU Press is not responsible for defects in the goods and damage caused by the delivery of the goods, improper storage or use of the goods, as well as natural wear and tear of the goods.
VU Press is not responsible for any damage or loss caused by links or content on other websites directed to the Online Store, including, but not limited to, computer viruses that may infect the device, software, data or other property. VU Press is also not responsible for your use of the Internet Store, browsing it or downloading any information or data from the Online Store.
We are also not liable for damage to the goods resulting from the normal use of such goods and / or the actions of third parties in connection with the damage to the goods.
You should not accept the information provided in the online store directly or verbatim, regardless of the context, terms and descriptions provided. To the fullest extent permitted by law, VU Press Limits its liability for warranties or conditions associated with the operation of this Online Store.
Our liability according to the established laws and the VU Press Rules is possible only if you have purchased the goods directly from us. These Rules or any warranties provided by Us are not valid if the goods have been purchased through a distributor or any other person.
Purchase
You can buy the goods we offer only in your own name. Your order must be confirmed by VU Press.
VU Press has the right to restrict the sale of goods to any person, geographical region or jurisdiction. We also reserve the right to change the prices of the goods at any time before placing the order. We will exercise the rights listed above depending on each factual situation.
Transfer, acceptance and return of goods
In the following, distinguishing between "books" and "electronic books", we present the procedures and conditions for the transfer, acceptance and return of those goods.
Books
If the goods you have purchased are (printed) books, you can pick them up at the premises specified by Us or order a delivery service.
The price of delivery of goods and additional fees related to this service (if any) are indicated in the shopping cart by choosing the method of delivery (collection) of books.
If you indicate that you wish to receive the goods by courier at the address specified by you when purchasing books in the Online Store, VU Press will initiate the shipment only after receiving your payment confirmation, which includes the price of the purchased goods, taxes payable (if applicable) and delivery price. We reserve the right to demand additional payments for re-delivery of goods if you do not collect the delivered goods on time.
Acceptance of goods means confirmation of the quantity and quality of the goods. If you have any complaints after inspecting the goods, you should report it to the courier who delivered the goods.
You have the right to return purchased books that are no longer needed for any reason within 14 (fourteen) days from the date of receipt of the goods and to get back all the money paid for them. In order to exercise this right to return the goods, you must, within 14 (fourteen) days from the date of receipt of the goods (a) unambiguously inform Us of your decision to cancel the purchase transaction by e-mail. email info@leidykla.vu.lt and send books to Vilnius University Press, Saulėtekio al. 9, LT-10222, Vilnius, Lithuania, or (b) submit a request to cancel the purchase transaction and return the books directly to us at Saulėtekio al. 9, LT-10222, Vilnius, Lithuania. The returned goods must not be in a worse condition than they were received. A request to cancel a purchase transaction is a free form, but it must include (a) the order number of the goods, (b) the name of the buyer, and (c) the returned goods. The cost of returning the goods is borne by the buyer of the goods.
The 14 (fourteen) day return period applies only if you have purchased the goods directly from the VU Press Online Store. In the event that you have purchased from a distributor or any other person, you must contact the person who sold the goods directly to you regarding the possibility of returning the goods.
If the goods sold to you have defects, you can contact VU Press within 2 (two) years and we will replace the book for you free of charge, reduce the price or refund the money paid for it. Partial compensation or a refund of all money paid can only be claimed if the goods cannot be replaced.
E-books
If the items you have purchased are e-books (digital content), you will find the items you have purchased in your account (My Account> Downloads) and you will be able to download them at your convenience. Attention! We do not send e-book files via e-mail. These items are considered to have been properly delivered to you from the moment the e-book becomes available for download in your account.
E-books purchased in the e-shop cannot be returned and the money paid for them cannot be recovered. In order for the purchased low-quality product to be replaced with a quality one, you must contact Us by e-mail info@leidykla.vu.lt.
Payments
VU Press does not provide financial, payment, money transfer and / or related services, therefore you use the services of third parties every time you make a payment. We cannot be held responsible for any third party services, including but not limited to the services specified in these Rules.
Intellectual property
All content posted on the Online Store is protected by copyright or other intellectual property rights. You may not use this content for commercial or any other purpose.
We warn you that the digitization (for example, in pdf format) and distribution of non-digitized books, as well as the distribution of purchased electronic books is a violation of the intellectual property rights of VU Press. VU Press does not tolerate such actions and protects violated rights in accordance with the procedure established by law.
Tax provisions
VU Press will base its activities on the financial information that you provide. VU Press is not considered a taxpayer, except in cases when the tax burden is directly determined by the legal acts of the Republic of Lithuania. All other taxes payable, including, but not limited to, customs duties and / or other taxes related to the goods, must be paid by you.
Applicable law and jurisdiction
Any dispute related to the activities of VU Press or the Online Store is resolved through negotiations. If the dispute cannot be resolved through negotiations, it shall be resolved using the Electronic Dispute Resolution System supervised by the European Commission.
